Amicus and the T&G have voted to merge into a new united union. The new union called Unite effectively came into being on May 1st – International Workers’ Day.
There will be a transition period of 18 months ending in Nov 2008 and a new executive will be elected in June 2008.
During the transition period, both Amicus and T&G will continue to operate as separate sections of Unite and be governed by their own rules as well as the new general rules.
